Harold Gilster " 1944-2006
Funeral services were held for Harold Gilster of Nimrod, Minnesota on Monday, April 10, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nimrod Lutheran Church in Nimrod, Minnesota with Pastor Raymond Hendrickson officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Jayne Koskiniemi. Special music was provided by Avis Estabrooks and Deana Skov. The pallbearers were Terry Gilster, Dean Gilster, Brant Ruhl, Jeremy Ruhl, Daryll Huwe and Todd Meech. The honorary pallbearers were all those who loved him. Harold was laid to rest in the Nimrod Cemetery, Nimrod, Minnesota.
Harold Richard Gilster was born on June 8, 1944 at the Wesley Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota. His parents were the late Alfred and Evelyn (Nohrenberg) Gilster. Harold grew up on the family farm in Orton Township, rural Nimrod, Minnesota. He attended country school until the 8th grade and then attended Sebeka High School in Sebeka, Minnesota. On April 24, 1971 Harold was united in marriage to Glenda Joan (Bernu) Edwards at the Nimrod Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Harold farmed on the Gilster family farm in Orton Township, rural Nimrod, Minnesota his entire life. He was a member of the Orton Township Board for 18 years. He was a Farmers Union and NFO member. He was also a member of the Nimrod Lutheran Church. Harold loved the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Harold loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and helping family and friends. On April 7, 2006 Harold passed away at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Harold in death were his parents.
Harold is survived by his wife, Glenda Gilster of Nimrod; 2 daughters: Sarah (Matthew) Dosdall of Elk Point, South Dakota; Cathy (fiance, Keith Myers) Warner of Thief River Falls; 2 sons: David (Karlene) Gilster of New York Mills; Daniel (Tammy) Gilster of Menahga; 3 grandchildren: Sara Gilster, Joshua and Lauren Dosdall; a sister, Doreen (Roland) Sycks of Backus; a brother, Larry (Nancy) Gilster of Nimrod; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and a host of friends.
