The funeral service for Harold Frederick Lenius, 87, Frazee, MN was held on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at 3 p.m. in St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Perham with Reverend Terry Grzybowski officiating. Visitation was on Saturday from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. in the Furey Funeral Home, Frazee and also one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial took place in the church cemetery. Harold died on March 28, 2006 at his home after a short bout with leukemia while under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Harold Frederick Lenius was born June 20, 1918 in Perham, MN, son of Albert & Agartha (Flatau) Lenius. He grew up and attended school in Hobart Township, Ottertail County.
Harold farmed with his parents until 1947; he spent one year in California, returning to the Frazee area in 1948.
On October 24, 1949 he was united in marriage to Mathilda (Tillie) Reyelts near Frazee. Harold was employed by Land OLakes in Perham for 32 years, retiring in 1982. During these years, and after retirement, Harold also raised beef cattle and enjoyed spending many hours working in his woods and playing cards with friends.
He is survived by his wife, Tillie of Frazee, two sons; Dan (Karen) of Frazee; Ward of St. Paul, MN, a daughter, Anita (David) Baumgartner of Rochester, MN; a brother, Edwin (Helen) of Perham; five grandchildren, Kathy and Donna Lenius and Aaron, Alissa and Ryan Baumgartner. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
