A July 8 omnibus hearing for Jordan Jerome Dalman was set Friday afternoon by Judge Sharon Grewell Benson in Otter Tail County District Court.
The 25-year-old Vergas man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of his former roommate, 28-yearold Dylan Butler, who was shot in the chest Sept. 21, 2018. Butler's body was later found buried in a pit on at a residence on Holbrook Road.
In addition to the second-degree felony charge, Dalman is charged with felony interference with a dead body at the scene of death and a gross misdemeanor charge of interference with a dead body.
Judge Benson ordered a Rule 20 examination of Dalman Nov. 29. The examination results were filed Dec. 21 by Dr. Thea Rothmann of Lakeland Mental Health. The examination showed Dalman was incompetent to stand trial in criminal court at that time. He was moved to the Minnesota Security Hospital in St. Peter where on March 4 he was ruled competent.
Neither defense lawyer Robert Thorwaldsen or Otter Tail County Attorney Michelle Eldien had any objections to the hospital's report of competency at Friday's review hearing.
