HI-10/Countryside team wins All-Star game in Dent

A standing-room only crowd was on hand Friday night at Dent's Jake Wolford Field to see the HI-10/Countryside League's All-Stars beat the best the Lake and Pine League had to offer, 5-3.

Fergus Falls' Mic Johnson was the difference maker, hitting a solo homer in the fourth and driving in two more in the fifth with a double. Johnson then took the mound in the sixth and picked up the win for the HI-10/Countryside team.

Local players on the HI-10/Countryside team included: Perham's Kevin Feldt (Tyler Sjolie and Mike WInjum weren't able to play due to injury); NY Mills' Tony Meech, Chad Keskitalo and Darin Johnson; Bluffton's Dustin Geiser, Kyle Dykhoff and Brent Weller; Dent's Brock Collins, Matt Richter and Jason Hofmann; and Troy Schrupp, Jake Bachmann and Kerry Lockrem of Vergas.


D.L. rallies by Perham

In the final game before the All-Star game, Detroit Lakes rallied with two runs in the bottom of the ninth and added one more in the bottom of the tenth to pull out a 7-6 victory over Perham in HI-10 action last Wednesday night.

The Angels scored single runs in the first and second for a 2-0 lead. The Pirates got on the board in the third as Matt Schornack scored on a fielders choice by Mike Winjum. They took the lead in the fourth on a two-run single my Schornack, scoring Luke Burgau and Matt Kalina.

Perham extended their lead in the sixth. Tyler Doll scored on a bases loaded walk to Evan Meece, then Kevin Feldt drove in two more with a single, giving the Pirates a 6-2 lead.

D.L. began chipping away with two runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth before their ninth inning rally.

Bluffton gets by 'Canes

Kyle Dykhoff pitched a complete game for the Bluffton Braves and scored a run in a 4-2 win last Wednesday against Fergus Falls.

Mark Sweere drove in two runs for the Braves, as they try to keep pace with Detroit Lakes on top of the HI-10 standings.


Dent rolls over Lakers

A seven-run sixth inning helped Dent pick up a 12-1 win over Pelican Rapids Saturday night.

The Wildcats scored single runs in the first and fourth innings with a three-run third in between to build a 5-0 lead prior to their big inning.

Brock Collins, Darin Stoll, Jeff Ronning and Brandon Fritz each had two hits in the win. Ronning also led the 'Cats with three RBI.

Matt Richter picked up the win, going six innings and allowing just three hits and two walks.

Vergas shuts down Mills

Four Vergas pitchers combined to hold New York Mills batters to just two hits in a 8-1 win Sunday night.

The Loons got all the offense they needed in the third as they scored three times with two outs in the inning.


Kerry Lockrem was 3-for-5 and Jake Bachmann was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI.
