Funeral services were held for Hulda Lahti of New York Mills, Minnesota on July 31, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in New York Mills, Minnesota, with Pastor Don Salo officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Janet Tumberg. Special music was provided by Andy & Janet Tumberg. The pallbearers were Hulda's grandsons; Rick Blomberg, Mike Blomberg, Terry Dunn, Troy Dunn, Mike Maunumaki & Matt Maunumaki. The honorary pallbearers were all of Hulda's grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Hulda was laid to rest in Woodland Cemetery in New York Mills, Minnesota.

Hulda Irene Hentila was born on December 31, 1913 in Deer Creek Township, rural New York Mills, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Matti and Alexsandra (Hyrynkangas) Hentila. Hulda grew up on the family farm in Deer Creek Township, rural New York Mills, Minnesota. On November 24, 1935 Hulda was united in marriage to Aldrich Lahti in Heinola, Minnesota. Hulda and Aldrich resided in Heinola, Minnesota where they owned and operated the Heinola Merchantile, then they resided and farmed in Leaf Lake Township, rural New York Mills, Minnesota. They moved into New York Mills, Minnesota in 1970. On May 13, 1971 Aldrich passed away. Hulda was the first nurses aid employed at the Elders' Home in New York Mills, Minnesota, she worked the first night alone. Hulda was also employed at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota then she was employed at St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota for a short time. Hulda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a Twins fan, enjoyed playing board games and visiting with friends & family. On July 28, 2007 Hulda passed away at the Perham Memorial Hospital in Perham, Minnesota at 93 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Hulda were her parents; husband; son, Randy; daughters: Dixie & Delaine; great-grandchild, Mickayla; 3 sisters from the flu in 1918: Mayme, Ida and Esther; 4 brothers: Eino, Walter, Henry and Bill; 3 sisters: Ella, Alma and Hilma.

Hulda is survived by her daughters: Donna Perala of New York Mills; DeLorres (Dennis) Windel of New York Mills; Diane (LeRoy) Nelson of New York Mills; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Sylvia Fraki of New York Mills; Martha Miller of Henning; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Arrangements were provided by the Karvonen & Son Funeral Home in New York Mills, Minnesota.
