In celebration of International Day of Peace on Monday, Adam Donley presented each of his third grade classmates in Julie Ekren's class at New York Mills Elementary with a 1970's Peace button as a gift to help celebrate peace while his special flag got to hang in class all day. The flag represents peace symbols from around the world. In 1982, kids from around the world gathered at the United Nations to present a Resolution for a Global Peace Day and it passed and ever since kids and communities from around the world have been celebrating ways to end conflict and promote peace. Adam and his mom have been finding unique ways to learn about peace and the promotion of it most of Adam's life. Ekren's class had fun and could name many signs of peace! When asked where is peace important, one said "in the world, and one said "in our hearts". What a great Day of Peace.
