Irene was born on April 30, 1913 to Harry and Annette (Christiansen) Thompson in Crary, ND. She was raised and educated in a country school in rural Crary, ND. She was united in marriage to Clifton on July 27, 1935 in Devils Lake, ND. They lived in Devils Lake until moving to Fargo in 1952 where Irene worked various jobs from housecleaning, banquet waitress, cook for NDSU fraternity to business owner. After their retirement they spent winters in Yuma, AZ. Clifton died on November 27, 1982.
Irene married John Tade on June 29, 1983 at Golden Ridge Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. She was a chartered member of Golden Ridge Lutheran Church. Irene moved to Detroit Lakes in August 2001. She enjoyed bingo, sewing, playing cards and cooking. Irene most enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and baking them cinnamon rolls.
Irene is survived by her son, David Dale (Karen) Walker of Fargo, ND; daughters, Marlene McMaster of St. Paul, MN, Lila (Herb) Tingelstad of Detroit Laeks, MN, and Glenda (Bob) Thompson of Lake Forest, CA; grandchildren, Kim (Marian) Baird, Sherri (Randy) Andersen, Tammy (Brian) Neilsen, Kay Lynn (Steve) Hofmeister, Kathy (Jeff) Henderson, Ryan McMaster, Perry (Lorraine) Travis, Cindy (Rob) Sims, Rob (Kim) Travis, Nicole (Steve) Darwin, Kyle, Trista, Alicia and Deanna Thompson; Twenty-one great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Estenson of Detroit Lakes, MN and Evelyn Walker of Devils Lake, ND; one brother, Marvin (Phyllis) Thompson of Maplewood, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Clifton Walker and John Tade, brothers, Earl and Larry, daughter, Ilene & son-in-law (Jack) Baird, grandson, Darren Thompson, son-in-law, Myron McMaster.
