Israeli-Palestinian conflict explored at Calvary Church program Oct. 1

Calvary Lutheran invites the community to hear Dr. Arland Jacobson speak on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, a world issue, on Sunday, October 1, at 9:50 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.

Calvary Lutheran invites the community to hear Dr. Arland Jacobson speak on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, a world issue, on Sunday, October 1, at 9:50 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.

He will speak on the perspective of a Palestinian family who has family members living in Jerusalem and in Bethlehem. Dr. Jacobson will also be preaching at the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. worship services that Sunday.

Dr. Jacobson is the Executive Director of the CHARIS Ecumenical Center at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota. He has held this position since 1983. An ordained ELCA pastor, Jacobson has taught in the Religion Department at Concordia and at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. His field is New Testament studies. Jacobson graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D.; Luther Seminary; and the Claremont Graduate University in California.

Jacobson has been to the Middle East a number of times, and is involved in The Olivewood Project, which provides income for Palestinian Christians in Bethlehem. He is also involved in local interfaith dialogue in Fargo-Moorhead (Jews, Christians and Muslims), and serves on a Region 3 task force on Jewish-Christian Relations.
