JOBZ has been approved for KeepItLocal.com, paving the way for subsidies for the internet sales-based company.
KeepItLocal.com sells vehicles, power sports, real estate and shopper items. The firm, owned by Bob and Marion Johnson of Perham, plans a 3,540 square foot facility in Perham, with estimated construction costs of $500,000. The building would be located on 1.06 acres in the Happel Addition.
The council voted Sept. 11 to approve the lot as part of the JOBZ (Jobs Opportunity Building Zone) zone, which qualifies the firm for a range of tax incentives. The council vote was 3-0. Abstaining were Mayor Vince Pankonin and Councilman Kevin Keil, both of whom have relatives directly or indirectly involved in the development.
JOBZ is projecting to establish 4.5 jobs initially, and five additional jobs within the first year.
The council was also scheduled to act on JOBZ designation for Redline Holdings, a firm planning to manufacture recreational vehicles in Perham.

The matter was tabled, however, as the city is revising plans to annex property west of town for the project. Further discussion is expected at the Oct. 9 Perham City Council meeting.
