Bragging about his accounting experience and after six years in congress, Congressman Kennedy is "still working on specifics of a plan" to balance the federal budget, charged his Democratic opponent for the Minnesota U.S. Senate seat, Amy Klobuchar.

When it comes to the budget, Minnesotans deserve better, believes Klobuchar. "After six years in Congress and with less than five weeks remaining in the elections, Congressman Kennedy still has no plan to balance the budget," says Klobuchar.

Kennedy continues to release false and negative ads, contended. Klobuchar campaign manager Ben Goldfarb released the following statement:

"Minnesotans are facing real problems and deserve real leaders. Congressman Kennedy continues to use his television ads in a misguided attempt to distract voters from his six years of failure in Washington. Amy Klobuchar has offered serious solutions to pay off the deficit, cut taxes for the middle class, lower healthcare costs, and help families achieve the dream of higher education.

--- Klobuchar has been a tough and successful prosecutor. Klobuchar's office has increased criminal jury trials by 50 percent and has secured tougher sentences for repeat offenders.

--- Klobuchar has a plan for affordable prescription drugs - Mark Kennedy doesn't. Klobuchar has advocated for negotiating for cheaper drug prices, not rationing drugs for seniors. Mark Kennedy has taken $138,000 in campaign contributions from drug companies and done their bidding in Congress.

--- Klobuchar has a plan to protect and preserve Social Security without raising Social Security taxes by balancing the budget. Mark Kennedy has advocated for private Social Security accounts and supported budgets that have raided the Social Security Trust Fund.

In August, Klobuchar released her comprehensive plans to eliminate the federal deficit. Her plan calls for:

--- Restoring pay-as-you-go budgeting - $18 billion a year

--- Cutting wasteful spending - $60 billion a year

--- Ending off-shore tax shelters, giveaways to the Bit Oil and Drug companies, and rolling back the Bush income tax cuts on those earning over $336,000-$154 billion a year

--- Health care savings - $171 billion a year
