The Lady Jacket golf team is getting contributions from every girl on the team. Perham has already had four different girls record the teams low round. That balance has lead to an early lead in the Heart O Lakes standings.

HOL at Frazee

Chelsea Sazama became the fourth Jacket golfer to lead the team on Monday as she tied for first place at the HOL at Frazee, only to finish in second place overall after a playoff.

Sazamas score of 45 was good enough to help Perham to a first place finish in Frazee, pushing them past Hawley/Ulen-Hitterdal for the overall lead in the conference by one point.

Pelican Rapids was second at Frazee, followed by H/U-H. Pelican Rapids Nicole Hanson beat Sazama in the playoff to earn medalist honors.

In the Jackets other two meets last week, Katie Karkela and Jeanna Kratzke had the teams low scores. In the season opener, Jenine Estlick was the low scorer.

Bobbys Course

On Saturday, Perham took part in the S-M Invite at Craguns resort near Brainerd. Two separate tournaments actually took place, with the Jackets competing with eight other teams on Bobbys Course at Craguns.

Perham finished seventh in the nine-team field with a score of 426. Robbinsdale-Armstrong, led my medalist Sam Motzkos round of 82, won the team title with a 353. Fergus Falls was second with 392.

Kratzke led the team for the second time this spring with a round of 101 (48-53). Nikki Mattfeld and Leah Richter each shot a 107.

It was a great day to golf, head coach Cory Solberg said. None of our golfers had ever played on Bobbys Course before, so everything was new to them. It can be a very intimidating place to play.

HOL at Breckenridge

Perham finished third at Breckenridge last Thursday with a round of 210. H/U-H won the meet with a 204, followed by Pelican Rapids with a 208.

Abby Feist of Pelican Rapids was medalist with a round of 48. Karkela led the Jackets with a 50, to finish in fifth place. Mattfeld was close behind in sixth with a 51.

Pelican Rapids Invite

Perham dropped 46 strokes off their score from last years Pelican Rapids Invite, shooting a 390 on Tuesday at Wildflower to finish second to Detroit Lakes (332).

Leading the team was Sazama with a 94.

The girls have been playing hard and smart, head coach Cory Solberg said.

We are about half way through our season and our kids have made some great strides this season, we are very proud of their effort.

Perham will head north on Friday to take part in the Bemidji Invite. The Yellowjackets J.V. team will host a meet at Perham Lakeside on May 1. The varsity will return to HOL play at West Central Area on May 2 and a doubleheader at Barnesville and Hawley on May 4.
