Lady Jackets win at West Central Area

With all four scoring players shooting a 47 or below, the Lady Jacket golf team solidified their position atop the Heart O Lakes standings with a first place finish at West Central Area on Tuesday.

Perhams score of 180 was three strokes better than second place Pelican Rapids (183) and 10 better than the host Knights, who finished third (190).

Chelsea Sazama finished second overall with a 42 to lead Perham. Pelican Rapids Abby Feist was the meet medalist with a 39.

Jenine Estlick finished sixth overall with a 45. Also scoring for Perham were Nikki Mattfeld (46) and Jeanna Kratzke (47).

Perham now has a three-point lead over Pelican Rapids for the overall HOL lead.

Bemidji Invite

The Perham girls finished in 12th place in what head coach Cory Solberg called one of the top-10 worst days to play, the Bemidji Invitational played last Friday on a cold, windy, rainy day.

Moorhead, ranked No. 3-AA, beat out No. 1-AA Detroit Lakes by nine strokes for the team title with a 337. D.L. tied for second with No. 6-AA Bemidji at 346. No. 3-A Staples-Motley finished fourth with a 369.

Bemidjis Alyssa Williamson, the No. 4 ranked individual in Class AA, earned medalist honors with a round of 75.

Perham was led by senior Kacey Kachelmyer, who was the only Jacket golfer under 100 with a 96.

The Jacket girls will have a busy week ahead of them. They start today (May 4) with a HOL doubleheader. They tee-off at Barnesville at 1 p.m., then travel to Hawley when thats finished for another nine holes.

On May 5, the team gets their first look at the Section course when they play in the Fergus Falls Invite at Pebble Lake G.C. starting at 9:30 a.m.

After taking the weekend off, Perham will play at Forest Hills in the HOL hosted by Lake Park-Audubon on May 8.

They head the opposite direction the next day as they participate in the W-DC Invite at Whitetails G.C. on May 9 at 3 p.m.

Jr. High team wins

The Perham Junior High Girls' Golf team won at West Central Area on Monday. The team shot a 230, which beat Pelican Rapids by two shots. Holly Karkela earned medalist honors with a 49. Kaylan Huber finished 5th with a 57.

The J.V. teams home invite at Perham Lakeside Golf Club was interrupted by rain on Monday and canceled.
