Lawrence Sweere " 1932-2006

Lawrence (Larry) Henry Sweere was born on July 20, 1932 in Butler, MN. He passed away at his home in Bluffton on Wednesday morning, May 24 after a long and courageous battle wtih cancer.

Larry was united in marriage to Luella Fultz on December 29, 1953 in Wadena. They made their home in Wadena until 1974 when they moved to Wheaton and became owners of Wheaton Lanes. In the fall of 1980 Larry was diagnosed with cancer and retired for 2 years. In 1983 they bought Henning Lanes and a few years later they bought the hardware store as well in Henning. In 2004 they moved to Bluffton when Larrys cancer had taken hold again. Larry was surrounded by his loving family and many friends until his death. We now celebrate his life with memories that are full of strength, laughter and love.

Larrys hobbies included carpentry, bowling, fishing and camping. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He was always there for all his children to lend a helping hand on all sorts of projects and family activities.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Julia Sweere; in-laws, Jim & Edna Fultz; his brother, Gerald (Jerry); and his three angel granddaughters, Christine Sweere, Katie and Kristi Frisch; brother-in-laws, Joe Peters, Lloyd and Raymond Fultz.

He is survived by his wife Luella (Lu) of Bluffton; sons, Dan (Deb) of Bluffton, Tim (Lucinda) of Gresham, OR, Dave (Carol) of West Fargo, and Mike (Donna) of Wheaton; daughter, Barb (Dean) Frisch of Wheaton; grandchildren, Scott, Marc, Matt, Josh, Craig, Stephanie, Michele, Kenny, James, Blake, and Brock Sweere - Paul (Amanda), Adam, Trent, and Sarah Frisch - Bo Teberg, Josh and Christian Dugas; brother, Dale (Dorie) of Wadena; sisters, Marlene Peters of Wadena and Kathy (Gene) Hinman of Verndale; and sister-in-law, Deb Sweere of Henning.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 26 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton with Fr. Albert Holmes and Fr. Michael Kellogg celebrating. Pallbearers were Scott, Marc, Matt, Josh, Craig, Stephanie, Michele, Kenny, James, Blake, Brock, Paul, Adam, Trent, Sarah, Bo, Josh, and Christina. Military Honors are by Elmer Goche Post 3922, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wadena. Burial was in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Bluffton.

Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena, MN was in charge of the arrangements.
