Funeral services were held for Leo Rothiger of Perham, Minnesota on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Perham, Minnesota officiated by Pastor Marilyn Breckenridge. The hymns were provided by the congregation and Erin Anderson, accompanied by Russell Bunker. The pallbearers were George Kupferschmid, Dave Schornack, Roger Frost, William Cavanagh, Wayne Sachs and David Wenzel. Military Honors were provided by the Perham V.F.W. Post #4020 of Perham, Minnesota. Leo was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Perham, Minnesota.
Leo Herman Rothiger was born on March 13, 1916 in Homestead Township, rural New York Mills, Minnesota. He was the son of Otto and Minnie (Stebe) Rothiger. Leo attended school in Homestead Township. In his early days Leo worked for a trucking company. He entered the United States Army in February of 1942. Serving overseas in Europe as a mechanic in Field Artillary and was Honorably Discharged in October of 1945. On May 29, 1946 Leo was united in marriage with Leona Seedorf. Leo and Leona resided in Perham, Minnesota where Leo was employed with Knuttila Implement Company as a service man and was a Minneapolis Moline Dealer for several years. Leo also was employed with the city of Perham in maintenance until his retirement. He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, Perham V.F.W. Post #4020, Perham Masonic Lodge, Zuhrah Shrine Temple and Birak Shrine Club. Leo also served as a volunteer for the Perham Fire Department for many years. He loved working in his yard, his shop and loved making things of wood. Leo also enjoyed weekends camping and going to Polka Fests. He dearly loved his Boston Terrier Dog. On November 24, 2006 Leo passed away at the Perham Memorial Home in Perham, Minnesota at 90 years of age. Preceding Leo in death were his parents, Otto and Minnie; his sister, Norma Wanderi.
Leo is survived by his wife of 60 years, Leona Rothiger of Perham, Minnesota and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
