Lidwina Susan Buettner was born on January 19, 1918 to Joseph and Margaret (Wegscheid) Heltemes in rural Bluffton. Lidwina passed away at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena on Tuesday evening, August 29, at the age of 88 years. Lidwina married Hubert Buettner on June 2, 1942 at Bluffton. She has lived in the Bluffton and Wadena area all of her life. She was now a resident of the Elders' Home in New York Mills. Lidwina was a member of the Christian Mothers and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing cards, and word puzzles.

Lidwina is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; an infant son; granddaughter, Leslie Buettner; great grandson, Andrew Spiesz; parents, Joseph and Margaret; brothers, Victor, Gilbert, and Norbert Heltemes; and sisters-in-law, Pat, Marlys, and Helen Heltemes. Lidwina is survived by daughters, Marge (Tom) Welle of Sauk Centre, Donna (Curt) Noll of Hawley, and Karen (Chris) Eickhoff of Canby; sons, Roman (Linda) of Shawnee, KS, Ron of Austin, TX, Ray (Leanne) of Wadena, and Robert (Kristine) of Eden Prairie; 20 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette (Syl) Budig of Baraboo, WI and Julie (Jack) Josephson of Little Falls; brothers, Sylvester (Cel) Heltemes of Wadena, Alvis (Eileen) Heltemes of Castle Rock, WA, and Richard (Coy) Heltemes of Castle Rock, WA; and sisters-in-law, Joann Heltemes and Cecilia Buettner.

Mass of Christian Burial was hled Friday, Sept 1 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton with Fr. Donald Wagner celebrating the Mass. Interment was in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Bluffton. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Lidwina's grandchildrena dn great-grandchildren. Service as Active Bearers were Mike Noll, Todd Welle, Alex Buettner, Adam Buettner, Ryan Eickhoff, and Jonathon Buettner.
