Perham high school students are encouraged to apply for a chance to attend Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). The Perham Rotary Club is seeking students that have potential or established leadership skills. Camp RYLA is a weeklong camp that aims to strengthen participants through physical, mental, emotional and intellectual challenges. Every RYLA experience includes the fundamentals and ethics of leadership, communications, problem solving and building self confidence.
Rotary Member Brett Glawe said the camp helps participants become stronger individuals. "Everyone has a really good time," he said. Glawe attended the camp when he was in high school, and says he still uses what he learned on a daily basis, including how to work in a group to achieve a common goal.
The 2019 camp is July 14-20, in Crookston, MN. The camp is free through scholarships from each Rotary Club.
