A local student has been awarded scholarship by Saint John's University for the 2010-11 academic year. He is a first-year student at SJU.
Jordan Waite Berns, son of Ronald and Patricia Berns of Perham, has been awarded a $16,000 Regents'/Trustees' Scholarship and a $3,500 Music Scholarship.
The Regents'/Trustees' Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship awarded by the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University. To be eligible, students must have a 3.60 high school grade-point average and obtain a score of 30 or higher on the ACT (1980 on the SAT).
In addition to high academic achievements, recipients must have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service during their high school years. The final phase of the scholarship competition involves an on-campus interview with college faculty. The scholarship is a four-year renewable award.
The Music Scholarship is awarded to first-year students on the basis of musical talent and recommendations by music faculty. The Music Scholarship is a four-year renewable scholarship.
