Annual Golf and Bean Bag Tournament scheduled June 23 in Perham

PERHAM — The public is invited to attend the Fifth Annual Golf and Bean Bag Tournament hosted by Empowering Kids. These events have raised thousands of dollars for neurodiverse children and their families. This year's event will be June 23 at the Lake Side Golf Club, including a nine-hole golf scramble, bean bag tournament and dinner.

All money raised at this event will go toward building Empowering Kids' playground. Here are the prices for current playground construction goals:

• Fall protection surfacing: turf $75,000 or rubber mulch $38,000 
• 24-by-24-foot shade structure: $15,000 (a grant covers $7,500 of this cost) 
• Playground structures: $10,000 - $200,000 depending on the size of equipment
