Enrollment at Perham Public Schools higher than anticipated

PERHAM — With the first day of school in the books, enrollment numbers are higher than expected. Staff at Heart of the Lakes Elementary, Prairie Wind Middle School and Perham High School recorded a good start to the 2022-23 school year.

Overall, the district saw an increase of 61 students when comparing opening day in 2021 to opening day in 2022. From the last day of school in the 2021-22 school year, the district saw an overall increase of 87 students.

“We are 31 higher than our enrollment projection,” Independent School Board 549 Superintendent Mitch Anderson said. “There will be a few adjustments made over the next couple of days, but overall we are very happy with the trajectory of our K-12 enrollment.”

The projected enrollment number for the 2022-23 school year was 1,581 students. The total number of students in the district is 1,612. Enrollment numbers are 544 students for Heart of the Lakes Elementary, 528 for Prairie Wind Middle School and 540 at Perham High School.
