New outlet store to open in Perham

Goose Group purchases new building.

Trish Berns works at the outlet store in Perham. The space was used as a Christmas Market, which may be a seasonal store. The rest of the time the space will be used as an outlet store for the Goose Group, which owns several retail stores in Perham and New London, Minn.

PERHAM — A new outlet store, Goose Market & Outlet, will soon be opening in Perham at 802 Jenny Ave.

The Goose Group, which has several businesses in Perham and New London, Minn., outgrew its old warehouse. Laura Bjerke, vice president of the Goose Group, said when the building on Jenny Avenue became available, it suited their need for additional space. (The building was formerly Productive Alternatives.)

“It also had a retail space that was used as a thrift store,” she said. “So, we added a Christmas Market that will become an outlet store.”

Products at the outlet store will include a collection of shipped items that had packages damaged in transition, but still offer a quality product. The shelves may also have items that were purchased at a great price, but don’t fit in a store’s motif.

“We will also have clothing clearance items from Happy Sol,” Bjerke said, noting the business is located in New London. “The outlet store will open in February or March.”

The Goose Group is owned by Doug and Sue Huebsch and Wayne and Ross Mickelson. Doug noted adding another store to their growing list seemed like a natural fit, as “they had the space, so they may as well use it.”

“We are blessed with a great community and great customers,” he said.
