PERHAM — A no-wake advisory was issued by the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office for 5 area lakes due to high water levels.

As of May 26, all watercraft will be prohibited from creating a wake, or wave, within 300 feet of the shorelines of Pelican Lake, Spritzer Lake, Fish Lake, Bass Lake and Little Pelican Lake until June 25, according to news releases posted on Facebook by the sheriff's office.

"All boaters and watercraft operators are encouraged to use caution and slower speeds when operating near the shoreline while the water remains high," the post stated.

The news release also stated the reason for the advisory is to protect the shorelines, reduce property erosion and minimize environmental damage.
