Perham High School speech team finishes home meet in 2nd place

Melrose took home first at the annual Perham Jacket Classic Speech meet held on Saturday, March 18, at Perham High School.

PERHAM — The Perham High School speech team hosted the annual Perham Jacket Classic Speech meet on Saturday, March 18, at Perham High School. The event brought in 21 teams and more than 240 speakers. The Yellowjackets finished second overall with the championship going to Melrose.

Reese Hunt earned an honorable mention and ribbon in Original Oratory.

After three rounds of prelims, the following individuals advanced to the final rounds. The final round consists of the top six speakers, and the honor final round consists of the next six speakers. Placements are as follows:

The Perham speech team will compete again on Friday, March 31, at the Minnesota State High School League Subsection 23A competition hosted at Underwood High School. Qualifiers (top eight) will advance to the Section 6A tournament on April 15, hosted at Perham High School. The top three section speakers in all events will advance to the MSHSL state speech tournament scheduled for April 28-29 in Apple Valley.
