An area woman battling Lyme's Disease will be the focus of a benefit December 30.
The event, which will feature a meal at the "pasta bar," will be held from 11-2 at the Prairie Wind Middle School. A silent auction is also being planned, and matching funds will be sought from charitable organizations.
Lois Porath, a 1992 Perham High School graduate and former Miss Perham, is dealing with Lyme's Disease on top of the other medical problems that continue to plague her.
The Chronic Lyme's Disease dates to a tick bite in 2006. Last year, Trigeminal Facial Palsy set in.
After extensive research Porath found a clinic in Reno, Nevada that is not only exceptional when it comes to the treatment of Lyme's Disease, but will treat her without medical insurance. She has been there since November 26.

She must pay not only for her treatment but also for a hotel and food.
Her friends at the Perham-Dent schools are organizing the event, including Lynn Wieczorek, Bob Tangen, Scott Bjerke, Karen Zepper, Shawn Stafki, and Sandra Wieser-Matthews.
