The incident happened shortly after noon on Wednesday.

Although authorities are still processing the incident, Sgt. Chad Glander with the Detroit Lakes Police Department says the man fled on foot before officers found him on the north side of the Essentia Health building in the downtown area.

According to Glander, there was a short standoff with police; the man was then taken into custody and brought to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Hospital with a non-life threatening, self-inflicted laceration.
