"There is a need for a business that will take care of people," Priscilla Orvik said with conviction. "A goal for our services is to be able to help the do-it-yourselfers."

Priscilla and her husband Scott Orvik have just recently opened their new business, Crossroads Landscape Center, and they are already busy making sure each customer gets the personalized attention they aim to give.

For Scott, the landscaping business is a sector he is well acquainted with. Crossroads Landscape Center is really an expansion of Grass Roots Landscaping, Scott's business of 12 years. Crossroads will continue to offer many of the same services he formerly specialized in, including retaining walls, pavers, seeding, sodding, trees and shrubs, and decorative rock and mulch.

While his former business was ran out of the Orvik's home, Crossroads is located in the city of Vergas. The landscaping center is situated just below Vergas 66, off of Highway 4. The business opened May 1, and is already changing the Vergas landscape.

The formerly vacant lot is now blooming with life and an attractive array of colorful flowers. In addition to the greenhouse and outdoor plants and trees, a pond is in the plans for the site.

Thrilled about their first season with a retail center, Scott and Priscilla are already expanding the business to meet the growing needs of their customers. In addition to the typical annuals, perennials, shrubs, and tress, Crossroads is offering some of the more difficult to find plants.

Over 30 kinds of unique herbs are in stock, along with the highly sought after heirloom tomatoes. Some other exciting new products at Crossroads are Aquascape Ponds and specialty planter annuals.

Priscilla encourages people to come check out the business and design their own planters. Customers can bring in a planter and the Crossroads staff will help design an attractive arrangement. Russell Richter, a local plant expert, is on staff bringing his years of experience to the business to ensure that such arrangements are of the highest professional quality.

"We have staff on-hand to answer questions," Priscilla said confidently of the Crossroads crew. She said that they work hard to make sure that people embarking on landscaping projects get the best results for their time and money.

Having a high-quality business with a wide assortment of services is not the only objective the Orvik's have. According to Priscilla, "The people are what make it worthwhile."

Both Scott and Priscilla have deep roots in the Vergas area, with Priscilla living in the city since fourth grade. "Scott and I are really family oriented," she shared, continuing on to say how this prompted them to pursue building their own family business in the community.
