A jaw dropping presentation by national methamphetamine educator David Parnell will be hosted Wednesday, October 4, by the 549 Family Foundation and Perham-Dent Public Schools.
This presentation will focus on the alarming rates of methamphetamine abuse in our communities. David Parnell will present, 'Facing the Dragon' to students, grades 9-12 in a closed session in the afternoon and then to the general public in the evening.
Parnell's presentation will begin at 7 p.m at the Perham High School Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public. Parental discretion is advised.
David Parnell, former meth dealer, husband, father of seven and suicide survivor from Tennessee now devotes his life to traveling to high schools and communities warning about the dangers of methamphetamine. He began using drugs at an early age of 13 together with his father. David Parnell has been on T.V., radio, newspapers, and magazines in the United States and abroad. He also has worked with the Partnership for a Drug Free America's national advertising campaign. His message is captivating and his presentations are graphic. His face still holds the scars of his past drug abuse after he took an SKS assault rifle and shot his face off. Students and adults alike are drawn to his story and will long remember it.
"It is my hope that through bringing Mr. Parnell to our community, we can educate our youth and adults about the evils of methanphetamine use and abuse," says Brian Mort, president 549 Family Foundation.
