Short on arms due to injury and absences the Millers couldn't hold down the Perham offense Sunday night at Russ Jacobson Field.

The first place Pirates, who were struggling offensively and lost two straight coming into the game, broke out of the offensive slump to beat New York Mills 15-4.

Perham scored three runs in the top of the first off Millers starter Jeramie Weller. The lone Millers offensive highlight came in the bottom of the first when Trent Ament blasted a 3-run homer over the left field fence to tie the game at 3-3. Jeramie Weller and Brent Weller both singled to get on base for Ament. The Pirates scored one run in the 2nd, five runs in the 4th, two in the 6th and four in the 8th inning.

Down 11-3 in the 6th inning the Millers scored one run on a 2-out single by Drew Schultz.

For the Millers, Brent Weller was 2-3 and Trent Ament was 2-4 with the 3-run homer. Noah Johnson and Mike Winjum led the Pirates offense. Johnson was 3-4 with two home runs and 5 RBI. Winjum was 4-5 with a home run and 4 RBI. Matt Richter was 3-4.

Bluffton 4, Perham 3

Coming off the July 3 win over NY Mills, the Braves pounded out 14 hits to edge the Pirates Friday night in Perham.

Bluffton pitchers held Perham to just six hits in the game. Starter Kyle Dykhoff gave up five hits in 7 1/3 innings. Dustin Geiser allowed one hit in 3 2/3 innings to get the win.

Bluffton scored two runs in the first inning on an error and Mark Sweere RBI double. Perham scored runs in the 4th and 5th innings to tie the game at 2-2. Both teams picked up one more run and the game was tied 3-3 after 10 innings. Dustin Geiser led off the 11th inning with a single. Kurt Mursu singled and a Jake Seelhammer walk loaded the bases. A walk to Matt Sweere scored Geiser for the go-ahead run. Geiser put the Pirates down in order in the bottom of the 11th for the Braves win.

Mark Sweere was 4-5 with three doubles for Bluffton. Matt Sweere was 3-5 with 2 RBI. Geiser picked up the win for Bluffton and Matt Olson took the loss for the Pirates.
