news brief

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — The Twin Lakes Creek bridge on Highway 200 will remain closed until the end of October due to material delays.

Highway 200 remains closed between Mahnomen and Roy Lake for road construction, with through-traffic detoured to Highway 59, Highway 113 and County Road 39, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The Twin Lakes Creek bridge on Highway 200 is impassable, with residents and local traffic urged to take the detour or find an alternate route around the bridge.

Additional lane closures and delays near Beatty Creek and Roy Lake begin the week of Sept. 6, with crews replacing the culvert at Beatty Creek and additional pavement work near Roy Lake.

The overall project includes shoulder widening, pavement repairs, bridge and culvert replacements, turn lanes and other safety and pedestrian accessibility improvements.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
