More than 100 names have been etched for eternity on the granite walls surrounding Perhams Angel of Hope, each one a memorial to someones child.
When the Park was dedicated in September of 2004, there were three walls.
Interest in placing memory blocks grew, making it necessary to add two more walls. Each wall has 24 memory blocks, and when the fronts are filled, new blocks will be engraved on the backs. The walkway was made wide enough on both sides, so that the backs could be used, and hopefully more wall panels wont need to be added for a long time.
Memory Blocks can be purchased by families for $125.00. This goes for the cost of having Dent Lakes Granite come to the Park and engrave the blocks, in the spring, and in the fall.
There will be a Walleye Wayne Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday May 13th, at 1 p.m., at the Lakeside Golf Course, with proceeds going to the Angel of Hope Park. The first two Tournaments were organized by Wayne Schmanski, who passed away in December 2005. To register, call the pro shop at Perham Lakeside 346-6070.
