Residents and visitors alike have been passing a new Welcome sign near the airport at the west entrance to Perham on County Road #80.
Recently completed, this sign was designed and installed by The Perham Rotary Club as a way to make the entrances into the city more welcoming.
The Welcome Sign Project was originally initiated as a combined Centennial Year project and a Presidential Project for the club during the presidential terms of Tony Stoll and Mike Parta 2004-2006. The first sign was built in 2005 on State Highway #78 near Dean's Country Market. The sign project will continue on as plans are underway for a third welcome sign to be built on County Road #8 this fall. A fourth sign is planned for the eastern entrance to Perham to be installed in the spring of 2007.
The Perham Rotary also would like to thank Dan Eickschen and Hammers Construction for help with equipment, Todd Barney at Otter Tail Power for installing the light, and the Public Works Crew at the City of Perham for site preparation and site finishing.
