New York Mills man escapes pickup that caught fire after crash outside Perham

A New York Mills man is recovering in the hospital after escaping a burning pickup truck that caught on fire after a crash, according to a news release from the Minnesota State Patrol.

A New York Mills man is recovering in the hospital after escaping a burning pickup truck that caught on fire after a crash, according to a news release from the Minnesota State Patrol.

At around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, Randy Rosentreter, 65, of Vergas was making a right turn onto Highway 10 in Gorman Township when he was rear-ended by a pickup driven by Andrew Perala, 24, of New York Mills.

Perala's pickup caught on fire and he was able to escape, the patrol said.

Perala was taken to Perham Hospital and then to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo with non-life threatening injuries, according to the release. Rosentreter wasn't injured.
