As the election of Newton Township is getting closer these are my thoughts and views.

First, I want to express a thank you to three people who wrote a letter to the editor of the paper. Im talking about Arles K, Rick S. and Jane H., you told the truth.

Why I have decided to run as a write-in is I have a few of my own views about the taxes and other things, such as the ditch 38 in Newton Township. How did the board in the past voice any concern about the ditch project and the cost to our taxpayers? We paid $2,000 as a family and not any water from our land goes into the ditch 38. Our taxes went up 30 percent, plus the township tax.

New York Mills is a sinking ship. If Im wrong, look in last weeks paper on the last page of the Herald. Two captains have left town, how many more will leave?

No new taxes or increase of taxes in our township. The township needs to live within its means. They need to stay within the budget that is drawn up at the beginning of the year.

If the board doesnt have enough funds, then we need to cut back on road grading in the summer so there are funds for snowplowing in the winter. There are also other areas to look into.

Is the home of recreation going to bring in more revenue or enjoyment to the few town people (Mayor)?

I encourage people to come to vote in the coming election. Let the best candidate win.
