Early February consisted of attending pageants and going shopping for Miss Minnesota. I am happy to say that we have chosen my piano piece for Miss Minnesota and possibly my evening gown, also. Choosing a piano piece this early in the game is a big change for me. For each of the Miss Perham pageants, I chose my piece not more than weeks (or even days) before the pageant.
Early and mid-February was a time to catch up with old friends. I spent a couple of weekends with some old (and new) friends at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus. Visiting the campus also got me thinking that the university is more my style. I just recently put in my transfer application and should receive word back in a couple weeks.
The weekend of the 17-19 consisted of my first road trip with friends. We decided to go to Michigan. My trip was shared with three friends, two from the University of Minnesota and one from St. Cloud. Severe weather advisories threatened to ruin our trip, but the four of us were troopers and decided to go ahead as planned. All in all, the trip, which was just under 2000 miles for me, was well worth the driving time. We all had a blast. Unfortunately, about a week after returning I caught the flu and still presently have the lingering effects.
The end of February brought Miss Perham duties as I worked The Taste of Perham booth at the Trade Show on the 24-25. I was able to see my old Interact members (of which I was a member my senior year in high school) and got a picture with Miss Heart of the Lakes 2005, Grace Pellow, on the back of a motorcycle.
My last venture to Perham March 1-2 consisted of preparations for Miss Minnesota and a couple of Miss Perham appearances. My first stop was to have a practice run for hair and makeup with Missy at Sorellas in Perham on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Missy pampered me and got me ready for my first set of Miss Minnesota photographs (which were taken at Photo Magic). These photos will be sent to the Miss Minnesota Organization and distributed to the judges.
Also on Thursday, I was fortunate to be able to speak to the students at St. Pauls school. I talked about my platform, which consists of nutrition, exercise, and label reading. The majority of the time I spent was talking about label reading and the different macronutrients, vitamins, and minerals found in food and what each do. They were a pleasure to be with and I hope I did half-way decent!
At noon on Thursday, I was able to attend Rotary and was a guest speaker. I can honestly say, I wasnt ready to speak and had no idea what to say. Hopefully, they wont banish me and Ill be able to redeem myself later this spring.
Stay tuned& Ill start talking about my platform again!
