An early lead and a well balanced attack were the keys to success for No. 8-A Bertha-Hewitt as they beat New York Mills, 64-50 at the Sports Center last Thursday.
The Bears had four players with at least five points in the first half as they took a 31-17 lead into the locker. Mills fought B-H (4-0, 1-0 Park Region) dead even in the second half, but weren't able to make up the 14-point margin.
Erik Peeters was one of three Eagle players in double figures with 13 points. Mike Baune and Isaah Bauck each had 10.

Mills has now lost 13-straight to the Bears dating back to 2001-02. They will get their next shot at ending the streak against the two-time defending Park Region champs when they play at Bertha-Hewitt on Jan. 31.
Holiday Tournament
The boys and girls basketball teams will host their annual Holiday Tournament Dec. 21-22. In the boys first contest, they will take on a 4-0 Nevis team that has averaged 61 points per game. The Eagles last played Nevis in Dec. 2005, where they won, 77-56.
After Christmas break, NY Mills will take part in the Concordia Holiday Classic in Moorhead Dec. 27-29.
