The totals are in and once again showed a high level of caring with a total amount raised of over $6,600 for the New York Mills Crop Walk. That means that the NY Mills Food Shelf will receive $1,650 to help local families this winter. And, many other families will be able to have food and medicine the world over.

There were over 110 walkers of all ages who participated in this year's event, and organizers send out a huge 'THANK YOU' to those involved.

There were 25 walkers who raised over $100. Also, there were 25 recruiters who helped get these walkers. The Trinity youth raised the most money with almost $1,100. Gary Bach was the recruiter for this group and has been a faithful participant for many years.

"The Crop Walk committee would like to thank everyone who helped in any way, especially the walkers and recruiters, as well as those who prepared and served food, gathered envelopes and money or donated prizes," said Jan Parta, one of the Crop Walk organizers.

Local businesses contributing to help make this year's event a success were: Dean's Country Market, Designs by Tes, Hardware Hank, Hoots Sports, Lund Boat Co., Mills Creamery, Mills Lanes, School Age Childcare, Seip Drug, Subway and the New York Mills Herald.

"The Crop Walk committee is humbled by the generosity shown every year for this worthwhile project and once again salutes everyone who helped in any way," Parta added.

Parta also reminds people to participate in your church's November food drive for the food shelf. Monetary donations are always accepted and make great alternative Christmas gifts.
