Keeping up a long-standing tradition of helping the community the New York Mills Lions held its annual auction Saturday to raise funds for the service organization. Although the total raised was down some from last year this years auction brought in $11,156, which includes money for the fire department.
Last year the auction raised about $13,800.
The Lions allowed the New York Mills Fire & Rescue Department to participate in the auction to raise money for the department. Donated items from members of the fire department brought in $1,075 and the Lions will provide matching funds.
Some of the best-selling items and vacation packages at this years auction were a fishing trip to Canada for $725; fishing trip to Bad Medicine Lake for $575; a local waterfowl hunt for $550; pontoon trip on Big Pine Lake for $475; and a 4-wheeler ride for $640.
