New York Mills police are investigating an early morning break-in at the NY Mills Regional Cultural Center over the weekend.
A witness delivering newspapers early Sunday morning told police she saw a person inside the Cultural Center around 2:30 a.m. The suspect, who is believed to have broken into the building through the back doors, was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt when spotted inside.
The witness did not immediately contact police but reported the incident later Sunday morning. It is unknown how many people were involved with the break-in.
The burglar or burglars made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and a couple bottles of alcohol, which were to be part of the silent auction fundraiser held Sunday evening. No other auction items were taken and no vandalism reported.
Chief Brian Nelson said no arrests have been made yet but they do have a couple suspects and continue to investigate the incident.

This is the second time in a year the Cultural Center has been broken into. Last May burglars gained access through the back doors and stole nearly $50 from the donation box. At that time burglars also broke into Trinity Lutheran Church, Mills Locker Plant and a storage unit at Leaf River Ag.
Although no arrest was made in the Cultural Center burglary last year, suspects were arrested in connection to the similar break-ins around town.
