Farmers and Merchants State Bank is looking to sponsor a New York Mills High School student to attend BestPrep's Minnesota Business Venture program this summer. The program is a weeklong opportunity for students seeking college and career direction or who are interested in starting their own business.
At MBV, students work in "companies" led by business professionals. Each company develops a product idea, splits into marketing, finance, and operations teams, and writes a business plan. Students listen to knowledgeable speakers on a variety of topics, including budgeting, philanthropy, marketing and international business. Students also participate in a mock interview, network with business professionals and take part in breakout sessions led by industry experts.
Andrea Hanson, MBV director, will be visiting with students at New York Mills High School on Thursday, April 5 at 9 a.m.
MBV is hosted by the Herberger Business School at St. Cloud State University July 8-13 and by the Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship at St. John's University July 22-27. Students stay in the residence halls on the college campuses, experiencing college life first-hand.
Due to sponsors, students selected for MBV each receive a program sponsorship, and will only be responsible for a $125 registration fee (this fee increases to $175 after April 20). Additional financial assistance is available.
