New York Mills came from two games down to beat Staples-Motley Tuesday night, 3-2.
After dropping the first two games, 17-25 and 18-25, Mills barely survived game three, winning by two points, 25-23. From there, they finished the Cardinals off by taking the fourth game, 25-18, and the fifth game tiebreak, 15-9.
Hannah Rutten dominated at the net, recording 20 kills and five blocks. Bobbi Smith also had a big night, with nine kills and a pair of blocks.

The Eagles will head to Bertha-Hewitt to face the Bears tonight (Sept. 4). Match time is 7:30 p.m.

Last year, B-H was 16-11 overall, 5-1 in the Park Region Conference and they beat the Eagles, 3-0. They are expected to challenge for the conference and Section 5A?title this year.
The Bears return junior Jessica Finck, who was the conference M.V.P. last year as a sophomore. B-H has all six starters returning, four of which made the All-Conference team last year, on a squad with just one senior on the roster.
After hosting their annual tournament this weekend, the Lady Eagles will remain at home Sept. 9 when they host Hawley at the Sports Center. The Nuggets return nine seniors from a team that went 13-13 overall last year, and 7-4 in the Heart O' Lakes conference (4th place).
