Sheriff deputies, at 7:21 p.m. July 25, north of Clitherall, issued a ticket for no life jacket on a personal watercraft.

A life vest citation in Minnesota can cost a person anywhere between $90 and $105, depending on the county in which the violation took place.

Minnesota law requires one U.S. Coast Guard approved, properly sized and easily accessible life jacket for each person in a boat. All children under the age of 10 are required to wear approved life jackets at all times while in boats.

Mailboxes vandalized

Several mailboxes were reported as vandalized on the south side of Fiske Lake, southeast of Underwood and southwest of Battle Lake. The call came into the sheriff’s office on July 26.

In two cases, mailboxes were deliberately knocked off their posts. An investigation was continuing as of July 27.

Three traffic injuries reported

Three people were reportedly injured in a traffic accident at 4:24 p.m. on July 24 near the intersection of Highways 27 and 10, east of Elizabeth.

No further details were available.
