Get ready to help stamp out hunger in Otter Tail County on May 13th.
The United States Postal Service and United Way are teaming up again this year to collect food and money to help fill local food shelves.
Local letter carriers, rural route drivers and volunteers will pick up donated non-perishable food items from your mailbox on May 13. The donated food will be distributed to your local food shelf.
In 2005 over 9,000 pounds of food was collected in our county. The food received is greatly appreciated by the food shelves. If you are not able to leave your donated items outside on the 13th, you can bring them directly to your local post office.
Cash donations are also accepted as the food shelves have the ability to purchase food at a fraction of the store price through the North County Food Bank. If you would prefer to give a check donation, those can also be left in your mailbox and can be directly written out to your local food shelf.

With the growing number of people needing the services from food shelves, your help is more vital than ever to helping to stamp out hunger in Otter Tail County. Over half of the people needing food shelf services are children and 85 percent of the families needing this service earn wages below the poverty line. This is a problem that your generosity can overcome.
Please be supportive and donate for the good of your community.
