Pat Dobson was born July 23, 1927 to Roy and Winnifred (Hall) in Staples, MN. He married LaVon "Bonnie" Herman on December 24, 1948. They lived in the Staples area until moving to Chisholm where he worked at the iron mines as a mechanic for many years. When the mines closed, he returned to Staples and worked for the City of Staples and the Staples School District until his retirement. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting and fishing.
Pat passed away at age 81 on Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Staples Care Center in Staples. Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, in June of 2008; his parents, Roy and Winnifred; 3 sisters; 4 brothers; a half-brother; and his step-father. He is survived by his 4 children, Dorothy (Gary) Mertens of Staples, Rodney Dobson of Little Falls, MN, Billie (Terry) Dobson and Brian (Kathy) Dobson, all of Staples; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 3, 2008 in the Johnson Memorial Home Chapel in Verndale with Pastor Mark Shuey officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Dobson, Billie Dobson, Brian Dobson, and Gary Mertens, Sr. Active pallbearers will be Gary Mertens, Jr., Chad Mertens, Creig Dobson, Chris Dobson, Brett Dobson, and Cyle Dobson.
