Pauline Catherine (Nelson) Beach, age 71 of Bluffton, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2008 at the Tri-County Hospital in Wadena surrounded by her husband and children.
Pauline was born on Feb. 7, 1936 in Lake Park to Francis and Pauline (Sweet) Nelson. She was the 3rd of 11 children. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Staples High School, graduating in 1954. On Feb. 7, 1955 she married Alfred Raymond Beach at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. They were blessed with nine children and Pauline was a stay at home mom until 1982 when she went to work at Shady Lane Nursing Home and retired in 2001.

Pauline had a great love for her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a very kind and helpful person, always putting others before herself. She was loved by all of those she touched.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, January 7 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton with Fr. Donald Wagner as celebrant. Burial was in the church cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were all of her grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Michael Beach, Jason Beach, Brian Dempsey, Danny Dempsey, Danny Beach and Kraig Paul.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, sister Frances Winter; brothers Ronald and James Nelson; granddaughter Leeanne Andersen and great-granddaughter Ava-Rei Powell. She is survived by her loving husband Alfred of 52 years; children Alan (Debbie) Beach of Martin City, MT, Julie (Kenneth) Richards of Wadena, Jess Beach of Bluffton, Mark (Lucy) Beach of Bluffton, Catherine (Larry) Claflin of Sebeka, Helen (Vergil) Miller of Sebeka, Alice (Jerry) Manning of Perham, Sarah (Steve) Chalich of Fosston, Carol (Aaron) Andersen of New York Mills; 22 grandchildren Nikole (Russell) Powell, Kristy Beach, Rachael Beach, Rebeka Beach, Jacob Beach, Michael (Carrie) Richards, Ann (James) Wolken, Timothy Richards, Amy Beach, Manly Beach, Lisa Beach, Kimberly (Benjamin) Horstmann, Jordan Miller, Taylor Miller, Brandon Miller, Thomas Manning, Isaac Chalich, Evan Chalich, Emily Chalich, Bethany Andersen, James Andersen and Ethan Andersen; great-grandchildren Morgan Powell, Sofia Powell, Toryn Richards, Braden Beach, Tatum Richards and Canon Wolken; siblings Ruth (Harold) Hanson of Lake Park, Elnora (Donald) Dempsey of Staples, Juanita (Richard) Allee of Wayzata, Charles (Joy) Nelson of Ashley, ND, Rosemary (Reginald) Petrich of Staples, Patranel (Gary) Steinke of Boyd and Dorothy Hall of Sauk Rapids. Arrangements are with Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena.
