2006 Season: The Yellowjackets finished fifth at the Mid-State Conference Tournament. Cody Gustafson finished third at No. 1 singles and the doubles team of Gus Rutten and Ian Johnson (Graduated) finished third at No. 2 doubles. Staples-Motley won the Mid-State team title.

2006 Sections: Perham lost, 4-3, to Park Rapids in the first round of the 8A playoffs. Thief River Falls won the 8A title and finished as the Consolation Runner-up at the Class A State Tournament. Sean Wurgler (graduated) advanced to the 8AA individual semifinals.

Get to Know'em: Gus Rutten (Jr.), John Carlson (Jr.), Tim Buchin (Jr.), Mike Howey (Jr.), Joe Burns (So.), Brandon Lange (So.), Michael Buer (Fr.), Scott Eickschen (Fr.) and Dylan Ashcraft (Fr.).

Strengths: The Jacket players enjoy the game of tennis and are committed to working hard to improve themselves. They have gelled nicely as a team and have good team chemistry.

Season Outlook: Perham is in a rebuilding process at this time. The combination of a new coach and poor weather to start this spring slowed the rebuilding process a bit, but the Jackets have some good athletes and have a bright future. Gus Rutten has a lot of potential to advance in conference and section play individually. Staples-Motley and Park Rapids are always tough in the conference and Thief River Falls and Crookston will be tough to beat in Sections.

Coaches Quote: "We have a relatively young group of kids to build with along with some solid Juniors that will return. These guys are excited about Tennis and with some hard work could make a name for themselves in the seasons to come."
