Perham 2020 Homecoming will still be taking place this year with some changes because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Homecoming week at Perham schools starts Monday, Sept. 21, with spirit days through Friday, Sept. 25, when coronation takes place.
“Homecoming events this year are being set up similar as in the past with the Minnesota Safe Schools plans in mind,” Perham High School Principal Ehren Zimmerman said. “The difference will be when the events are going to be carried out or if we are able to carry them out. “
According to a Facebook post made by Perham Public Schools, the homecoming dress-up days schedule will be:
Pajama day Sept. 21 and Sept. 24
Jacket Pride Sept. 23
Flannel day Sept. 22 and Sept. 25
Coronation of the 2020 Homecoming royalty will be held on Friday, Sept. 25, at Meinhover Field at 4 p.m. Zimmerman said that to safely hold the event with COVID-19, it will be limited to a total of 250 guests. The coronation court and their parents and grandparents will be the first allowed to attend, followed by the members of the senior class. Although the event will be outside, masking and social distancing is required.
“Our goal at Perham High School is to continue the school spirit and work to recognize Perham Yellowjacket alumni,” Zimmerman said.

“We are working diligently to put on these events, but the safety and following the COVID - Safe Schools Guidelines is the most important part at this time,” Zimmerman said. “It is very difficult for our students to not be able to carry out daily and annual traditions that have built the culture at Perham High School and we are all hoping to see that day again. In the meantime, we need to make the most of each day and continue to celebrate the successes of our students and staff at Perham High School.”
