Perham High School hosted the first ever "Jacket Classic" speech meet on March 16, 2019. This event was lots of fun for both competitors and spectators. The tournament allowed 21 teams along with friends and families of competitors to check out just how functional the new Perham High School can be. The Perham Speech team had a very rewarding day, earning 172 points compared to the next highest team's 70 points. After three rounds of preliminary competition and one final round of the top seven in each category, the following PHS speakers placed:

A special thank you to all parents and local businesses that donated items and services to help make this tournament possible. On March 28, the speech team will be hosting their annual "Speech Expo" held at Perham High School. Come celebrate the team and enjoy a build your own taco bar, silent auction, and the opportunity to hear individual speeches. The event starts at 4:00 PM. Free will donations accepted, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the family of one of the team members, Maddie Johnson, whose younger sister, Taylor, has been battling acute lymphocytic Leukemia.
