Three Perham Buzz pitchers combined to no-hit New York Mills, 10-0, in American Legion Baseball last Wednesday at Krueger Field in Perham.

Buzz pitchers allowed just two New York Mills baserunners on walks as they combined to retire 13 of the 21 outs in the game by strikeout.

Right fielder Herschel Masinas saved the no-hitter in the seventh by throwing out a Mills runner at first base after a safe hit to the outfield.

At the plate for Perham, Nathan Schmitz was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Eric Weller was 2-for-2 with one run.

The Buzz had just come off a doubleheader sweep over Fergus Falls on Tuesday night.

Philip Moenkedick allowed just three hits and one walk in the 2-0 win in game one. Mac Stoll provided all the offense the Buzz needed, driving in both runs.

In game two, Perham got on the board early and made it stick in a 5-4 win. The Buzz scored three times in the first inning. Dylan Anderson struck first with a two-run single. Weller followed up with a RBI single of his own to give Perham a 3-0 lead.

After a pinch-hit double by Jonnie Schmitz scored a run in the third, Masinas drove in the eventual game winner in the fourth, scoring Moenkedick.

Stoll picked up the win for Perham on the mound, going five innings, giving up six hits. Anderson pitched two innings of no-hit ball in relief of Stoll for the save.

The Buzz (7-6) dropped back to one-game over .500 after a 3-1 loss at Pelican Rapids on Monday night.

Perham travels to Morris on Friday, then returns home on July 9 to face Bemidji in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.

Mills struggling

New York Mills ran into some tough luck after getting no-hit in Perham. Thursday night, they traveled to Parkers Prairie and lost, 8-4. Jordan Vaughan was 2-for-3 and Mike Baune and David Resch each went 2-for-4 in the loss.

Mills returned to Jacobson Field on Friday to face Barnesville. They built a 10-4 lead when Barnesville made a comeback with a six-run sixth inning, scoring the tying run on a bases-loaded balk. Barnesville then went on to win the game, 11-10, scoring the game-winner in the top of the eighth on a suicide squeeze bunt.

Wade Salo was 4-for-4 and Chris Baune was 3-for-4 in the loss.

Mills (2-7) will remain at home this week as they host Breckenridge on July 6 and Frazee on July 9.
