The Perham Area Public Library will be closed for the week of Monday, May 2 through Saturday, May 7 for carpet replacement. The library building, built in 1997, has recently undergone extensive repairs to its exterior walls to solve a water intrusion problem.
"The exterior of the building is now water-tight and in excellent shape and we needed to look to the interior to make sure that it is still an inviting place to be," said Librarian Susan Heusser-Ladwig. "The carpet is almost 19 years old and is really showing its age."
Other maintenance projects scheduled for the week include climate system duct cleaning and painting of the interior walls.
"The building will be bright and fresh when we reopen on Monday, May 9," Heusser-Ladwig said.
While the library will be closed for the entire week, items can still be returned during the week to the exterior book return door on the south (parking lot) side of the building. Library staff will be emptying and processing the returns daily.
