Miss Perham and Heart of the Lakes Scholarship Program is back and is planned Saturday, July 23, at 3 p.m. at the Perham High School auditorium.

"We had canceled the pageant, but then we had a new director step in" said Amanda Schaumberg, a volunteer on the committee.

Amanda Schultz of Studio 60 Photographic Art, is the new director and has coordinated three levels of the competition.

Three teens will participate in the Miss Heart of the Lakes Outstanding Teen: Sophia Roll of Glyndon, Minn., Sydney Goltz of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Caitlin Covington of Perham.

The pageant will also feature four ladies competing for the title of Miss Perham: Megan McCrary and Callista Wengel, both of Perham, and Autumn Jahnke of Wadena, Minn., and Sarah Labine of Detroit Lakes, Minn.

Seven contestants will compete in the Miss Heart of the Lakes pageant: Hannah Enge of Thief River Falls, Minn., Atomic Thorson of Bemidji, Minn., Katrina Bugge of Thief River Falls, Minn., Cassandra LaMarch of Duluth, Minn., Morgan Zerwas, Haley Bruggeman and Shelby Erickson all three of Thief River Falls, Minn.

After the local scholarship program, contestants will compete in the Miss Minnesota pageant and have an opportunity to win more scholarships.

The doors will open at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $10 for adults and $5 children 12 and under. (Cash or check only.)
