Perham’s Police Department responded to about 2,200 calls for service in 2014, an increase of 100 calls over the year before.
Perham Police Chief Jason Hoaby described last year as “a pretty good year.”
In 2014, the top five categories for which the department received calls were: traffic warnings (438), traffic stop citations (216), public assistance (105), property-damage-only accidents (105) and burglary alarms (80).
Hoaby explained that burglary alarm calls are generally false alarms, or times when the building looks secure but cannot be accessed by the responding officer without a key-holder present. Actual burglaries are later re-filed as such.
Call volume went up, Hoaby acknowledged, adding that the increase is to be expected as Perham continues to grow.

He said the year’s most unusual call was the attempted robbery of the Perham Tesoro on April 30.
The department switched record system programs in 2014, so categories of previous years’ calls do not exactly match.
